As we continue to celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month here at DDSN, we’re excited to share our second employee spotlight.
This week, we had the opportunity to speak with Kevin Williams. Despite the challenges posed by his disability, Kevin has found fulfillment as a Vocational Specialist at the Florence County Disabilities & Special Needs Board, where he plays a vital role in providing shuttle services to help others reach their destinations.
Kevin shared his journey from receiving support to working for the same agency that helped him. He also discussed the importance of self-advocacy for individuals with disabilities, emphasizing that many can earn more through work than they would on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) alone.
Excited to go to work each day, Kevin is driven by his desire to help others and achieve his goals. He views himself as a success story, highlighting the positive impact of dedicated support and the significance of meaningful work.
